First step of journey

I have three Buckeyes in my flock, and they are personable, good layers who can withstand Iowa's frigid winters and hot, humid summers. Good choice, I think, for getting back into chickens.

I also have miniature goats, and let me assure you, the chickens are Much Easier to contain. I adore goats, but keeping them from exploiting any weakness in the fence is an unending job.

Good luck with getting your set up finished and the youngsters outside, and welcome to BYC!

:welcome :frow Many years ago when I built my first coop I didn't have any shade for the birds. I did plant trees in the pens but in the meantime I built Rain/shade tables. The birds do like to get under them especially when it's hot out. Good luck and have fun with your birds...
