First successful Call duck hatchling...I think...

Yah the ones due next week I am not going to help out, If they don't pip externally on day 26, I will make a small air hole and leave it at that. See what happens.

There still is a second egg that I incubated with this little one, but it was old, around 2 weeks before I put it in the bator. On candle it looks really odd, alot of yellow on the bottom and dark mass with some veins on top and extending down into the narrow part of the egg. There is movement. I put it in the hatcher today and left it alone, but not expecting anything from it.

I agree that there's alot of contradictory information out there. The woman that I get my call duck eggs from locally told me that she has to always poke a hole in the air cell for her call ducks.

I looked around for information about that but didn't find anything. She told me that she's been doing it for 17 years.

I have call duck eggs due to hatch on the 31st. I'm basically playing it by ear.
Good luck with your babies!

Couple of more pictures, he/she is doing well. Now eating, drinking, and pooping. Sucker hopes around and runs pretty dam fast too!

Geeze calm down. She did what she thought was right and with call ducks you just never know when they need help. And seriously, "Ripping them out of their shells?"
