Thanks ~ I've been drawing since I was 6. About 43 hours in this one. I've been looking for something to challenge me, a chick would do it.

Sure, I'll give it a go. PM me with what you are looking for.

Good luck with your next hatch and I hope that the new thermometer/hygrometer works out better for you

Thanks Tricia and Carolyn ~

Ok...more questions.

I have an automatic turner that holds 48. I'm only putting six eggs in there. Where is the best place to put them. I have the water holders only half full and I'm about 50 to 51% humidity. Is this too high? I read where it should be in the 40's? I have the gauge resting next to the wall where the lid/bottom meet. Should I place it on top of the turner where it stays stationary while turning?

Sorry to be a pest...I want to get it right this time.

What secret did you find to keep it regulated?
Mine is wild too, goes up after I put in a sponge that is wet and microwaved to hot,
then by tomorrow it's down...
I wet sponge, goes up...
but nothing has kept mine stable, it is very dry here....

I'm just hatching 24 in the turner and I have them all clustered in the center. I figure they are closer under the heat source and fan, and close to each other, since eggs are little heat sinks themselves. But I have to say this placement isn't based on any thing other that it seems like a good idea.
I try to keep my humidity 40-50% with the big C channel filled and it does like to hover more at 50%. It seemed to work last time!
I have my hygrometer right where you have yours, mine's a digital temperature/hygrometer, too big to stay on the rack as it turns.
But I do have the little thermometer that came with it sitting on the turner and it seems to stay there.
You are not a pest! It's good to ask questions. And if you think about it every time we hatch eggs we're trying to duplicate nature so it's a challenge! Kind of like conducting a scientific experiment each time you attempt a hatch.
Best of luck on this hatch!

I am getting ready to put eggs in my new LG. I have the fan and the egg turner. thermometer
that came with it are junk I went to walmart an got a temp and hum. one. I sure would have liked to have looked at the picture of the bator you have. The eggs I bought are cuckoo marans so they are not cheap. I know what everyone is going to say I should have gotten some mixed eggs to try first. I will think positive about this. The bator was started today for eggs that are due Tue. I hope I will not have any problems. Any help will be appreciated.

thank you nice looking Dose anyone have a LG picyure? just checked the bator an the temp was off the chart that is why everyone tells you to set it up a head of time. hopefully I can get it regulated. By reading this post I have found out a lot did not mean to start another post in a post but ganewchick an I have something in common we both have a LG an this is are first time hatching eggs.

Funny, I had a hen laying under our corn hole boards. They are stacked on top of one another so I would have to slide the top one down and grab the egg out of the hole. All three of them took a turn at laying under there but one was serious and laid there for several months.
