So I have a few questions or I guess worries I might just be over thinking because I've never taken care of baby chickens before but then again I don't know.

My one keeps panting like its hot or something but it doesn't try to go where it is cooler i don't know what it means or if it's normal and I guess like wagging its but and then periodically shakes it head but I think that's normal I'm not sure and then my other one loves to try and escape there about a week/1/2 old

! Pleased you joined our flock! I have had chicks do that as well. Is it like constant panting? Does it still eat, drink, and poop? If yes on those three I'd tend not to worry too much. You might post your question here as well: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/11/raising-baby-chicks
And scattered throughout this link are some articles about the ins and outs of raising chicks.
https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/hatching-eggs-and-raising-chicks You may pick up some useful information.

Best wishes and thanks for joining BYC!

Welcome!

As you have already received some links to great starting points, I will just wish you all the best.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
