Well, my young birds are starting their family planning. They are quite industrious when it comes to nest building, they are not only using the tobacco stems I provided them, but also are using feathers lol. I wonder when I should expect eggs? I know the time periods, but I'm not sure whether they have actually copulated yet.

That is a cock bird in the nest bowl. He hangs in the bowl for some reason, and I catch him building the nest. Is that normal?

Any other advice on breeding is appreciated. I was new to pigeons this past spring, so this will be my first breeding experience (assuming they reproduce).

It is the male that builds the nest to entice the female. I assume the female does her part to help. In the beginning, you may end up with infertile eggs. After some time and practice, fertility improves.:wee
I have in the past, 2 eggs in nest with only one hatching. I also had staggered hatching from same nest, with one being 4 days later. That was anything but ideal since the older/larger got all/most, of the nutrition. Lil junior was struggling to thrive. Growing like a runt. Did not make it to adulthood.:hit
How many pigeons are in your loft. Do you know all genders . I like to add second temporary leg band identifying. I use blue for boys and of course pink for the girls. :)
Noticed yours has 2. Is that the reason?

You can expect eggs 10 days after you see them copulate.

Yes

These are the nest bowls I prefer 10" at the Dollar Store in Canada. They are not prone to tipping which I predict will be a problem in your case. I would change it out if I were you.

I have 9 birds, and I do not know the sexes. There are a few I am sure are cocks, but the rest are left to guesses. The one in the bowl is a cock.
