I rescued some silkie chicks, is this a good setup. My 250 Watt lamp is 30 inches up from the chickens. Appericiate yall.

Temperature reading would be a far better gauge. Also unfortunately that tub is quite small - chicks need a warm zone and a cool zone to get away from heat when they don't want it.
Dang, I'll have to look for another brooder then. As for now this is the temperature readings. I moved the lamp more to the far left so on the left it's warmer and the far right is around 87 degrees.

A couple large cardboard boxes (produce/melon boxes) taped together should do fine. You want a bigger variance between warm and cool zones, I'd aim for at least 10F lower on the cooler side.

Also you will need a ventilated cover of some sort (not sure if you have one but mentioning it just in case), as chicks can jump quite well by 1-2 weeks.

Thanks for helping me, gonna build one now and post it.

How is this?

Looks like your inside so it can be hard to get a brooder set up in an area with higher ambient temps like indoors, especially when using a 250-watt heat bulb. It is easier when brooding in higher ambient temps to use lower wattage bulbs.
Okay so I ordered a 60 watt incandescent red light, is that good?
