I have never had any breeds that went broody but my bantam mix is sitting on at least three eggs and I gave her four more. First thing is the four I gave her are duck eggs, will that be okay. One of the original three she has I stole from what loomed to be another broody. I could t get the eggs under her will she do it? Also I put six larger eggs for the other one. Will she possibly sit on them?Any info is appreciated. I know the first is broody when iI tried to five her the ducck eggs she tried to peck me. Would love ducks and would love so.e larger breeds. Barred rocks and buff proj grinsare the other six. What do you fguys think I am way lost.

Forgot to hit send last night on this post, either way she took them under herself. I am thinking I will give her a few more but I am not quite sure how many she will sit on. Anyone know more than me please chime in.

My two broody girls are bantam also. They can sit on about 6 full size eggs, BUT you have to remember that after they hatch, mama needs to be able to keep them warm when they need it. My recent mama, Sally, adopted 4 standard sized chicks. At 4 weeks old, she was barely able to keep 2 warm at a time. They are now 6 weeks old and they are the same size as their mama! I was lucky because the weather hasn't been that cold - and they mostly just huddled together, but she didn't actually sit on them for very long because they were just too big!

Well on the bright side she is only half bantam so she is a little bigger than a bantam. The other plus is that hatch date is in summer. Warmth shouldn't be a problem, as long as we don't go into an ice age.
