Today my 4 year old barred rock hen hatched out 1 chick and we have 5 more to go. The first chick that hatched was fine but the hen kicked to chick out and pecked our it’s eye. I was wondering if I should let her hatch or give the rest to our other broody hen (who’s a silkie) who has six already.

Is the silkie close to hatch or already hatched out? Poor baby I would watch how she acts if another hatches and if shes agressive I would take her babies and give them to another mother. One of my hens was mean to her first chick but I put the chick under her and she stopped. It may have been because she was a bcm and the baby was a different breed and was white.

I ended up putting the chick down because it was so bad. I am just gonna give our silkie all of the chicks
