Wife had been wanting to get some chickens, but we just hadn't taken the plunge.
One day a buddy of mine called and asked if I wanted some chickens, he ordered some and got more than he needed and offered the overrun to me. Wife was ecstatic, but we had no coop! So I asked one of my coworkers if he knew anyone with one I could borrow or have till I got one built. He did but he said it was a little rough. I got it and sure enough it was pretty bad! So I found this forum, checked out some of the chicken tractors and scratched out a plan, and started building!
This is what I ended up with!
Plan changed daily, went from six nesting boxes to ten, and ended up big enough to support fifteen hens!
Compared to what my birds started out in this is The Chicken Hilton!
What do ya'll think?
Just for scale the wheels are six inch diameter and the run is 10 x 6 ft.

Nice job! I built mine on a unemployed budget out of scrap lumber and spent very little on building materials. I spent more on hardware cloth than on lumber. First run was fine until chicks started growing! I thought they looked crowded so we made the run much larger. My only problem with the design of these Tractors is that you can't stand up in the run. What if you have to go in there? I am not crawling in chicken chit! I can't stand completely upright in mine but you don't have to crawl.

Great job!!!

I confess once I had a broody who had gotten under the coop and had been squirreling away eggs, I dressed one of the kids in coveralls and sent them in under the coop to fetch her and her eggs out. The coop stood about 2 foot off the ground but I thought I had blocked it off well enough so as not to have an issue with a rebel hen...lol.

At the time I thought having it on legs was a great idea until I realized I couldn't reach them when they ran under there...lol.

I made mine 4 ft tall.Thought i had done the smart thing no crawling..BUT...
i can walk in but hit my head all the time and have to walk bent over..not fun...I would opt for 6 ft if i did it again or low and have each section open from the top

Got a 17" crawl space under the coop, thought it would be s good place for them to get some shade, didn"t think about them nesting under there. Just play it by ear I guess and see what happens.
Thanks for all the comments, I really appreciate them! Took me a week and alot of trips to Lowes to get this done!
