First time candler, blood ring???

Thanks, I hope so too. I think I will have to toss out a few. I wasn't even expecting all of them to be fertile. (Props to my rooster! lol) It's such a cool process the whole thing!

It is cool. I took video of one of my babies hatching this morning. So much fun. And as for roosters... well, where there is a will there is a way. I'm finding blood in my sexlink's eggs. The rooster is a BANTAM. Talk about your high hopes! LOL

I can't wait to take video and for my 2.5 year old to see them. He keeps asking if they will crack soon. Lol. Bantam rooster.....haha, that's great!

Don't toss those eggs!!! A red ring is normal on the third day!!! https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...g-candling-pics-progression-though-incubation

Thank you so much for the info. That thread has great pics! I was looking at some of my other eggs and it looked like a ton of them had a "ring" of sorts. We shall see. I am not throwing any out until I am sure!!

My son is 9 and when he saw it hatch he sang happy birthday to it. :) I love being able to share this with my son. Next.... duck eggs. :D

Can you say eggdicted?

So, now there is a dark shadow in the middle of the now 2 "rings". I assume it's the embryo. Does this sound right? Also, should the whole yolk and embryo be free moving, or does it just stay on one side?? Thanks guys!

Here are some pics. The first in a blood ring I think, the second is a different egg with the dark spot, and the third is another egg I think is good.

All of them? Really? Even the last one. It's day 5 today. There was change from day 3 too. if there "growth" after a blood ring appears? Also, does the whole thing move freely around in the egg, or stay put? Thanks!

The black dot should move back and forth in one spot. day 5 is a little early to know for sure if all are blood rings. i wait till day 10 before tossing. the black dot should move but be in one spot unless u turn the egg. where the yolk moves the embryo moves. But to me they all look like blood rings. wait a little while on the last one. i do see a black dot on it. the other two are def. blood rings
