First time candling is this normal??

Okay so I'm totally new with this, but I was candling my egg today and noticed that one half was dark, and another half was see through.

is this okay I don't know exactly how old it is but it's more then 7 days.

Well I can see some veins and I saw the eye move yesterday.

That sounds like its good takes a while to work out what to look for but as long as there are veins and movement it should be fine.

Oh it can be so hard to see sometimes, then something moves and you almost drop the egg thinking the alien is going to jump out and get you

, I dont know how many eggs close to hatching time I thought was dead since all I could see was black and out pops a baby duck. I just look at about 5 to 7 days now to see those veins and heartbeat then keep all of those

We candled 6 the other night and were concerned that only 1 might be OK. They started hatching yesterday. I have 3 chicks in the brooder and the other 3 are pipping as we speak! Keep the faith...

I'm surprised the egg made it this far, since I'm hatching it in my lizards tank, and he was on top of it yesterday

I have it under a broody

It's soo cute and has litle muffs think it's an americana cross

Maybe the lizard on top added some extra warmth and made it come early
