Hi UrbanChicks! I live is so calif too, where we are usually very warm, but kind of cold today! My chicks are two weeks old and a couple days ago when it was about 80 outside, I took them all out for about 10 or 15 minutes for the first time. They didn't get cold and were happy to scratch around in the grass. I also gave them their first treat. I just gave them some chopped up spinach and they liked it. I think they liked playing with it more than anything. It was fun to watch.
