First Time Chick Parents, Spring 2016

This is Henrietta. She's the boss of the girls. I'm hoping she's not a Henry!

Definitely a Henrietta. You can tell by the black wash down the legs. A cockerel's legs would be solid yellow, and as mentioned would be lighter in color.

I'm still keeping them in our house because I'm too nervous to put them outside. Lol. They are right in our living room so they have been getting a lot of socialization:) They are part of the family now! Eventually they will go out when it's warmer and we can spend time with them outdoors.

This is our first time with babies, and I put them in my bedroom! Never again! After two weeks, the smell was so pungent that I couldn't stand it, and they liked throwing all-nighter chicken parties while I was trying to sleep. I relocated them to their mini coop with the heat lamp at week three. They are thriving just fine. Their coop is totally enclosed with an enclosed yeard area, so they are protected from critters and the adult chickens.

I can't sleep knowing that my baby's will be here tomorrow!! My hatch date was April 10th but me and my seller had made plans for tomorrow

I do mini clean outs of their brooder every day or every other day then fully clean once a week to keep the smell away. They are getting big fast though and running out of room so I built them an extra perch area that they can fly up on. They love it! Won't be long before they have to go to the coop

The chickens are taking over the house! I had to get a watermelon bin to give them more room! Silly Canada and it's snow in April!

My 3 week old br are finally getting along with the original 4 week ladies. So happy to have a nice little flock. Pretty sure there's too much testosterone in my house though... Thinking I got a bin full of Roos
