First Time Chick Parents, Spring 2016

I finished my coop yesterday (10x10 shed conversion)

But I keep forgetting to take pictures of them in it lol... So here was when it was clean:

By finished I guess I should say useable lol... Still need to build the run, add the window to the back wall, reinforce the screen door with another layer of hardware cloth (it has one layer built in already), and screen in under the nest boxes to be the brooder. But the important thing is they are off my porch finally!

And here are the rest, all 1 week old.

Sophia, EE.

Betty, BA.

And Izzie, CM

All are getting along great, and I have noticed their size difference doesn't bother them in the least. The younger three have no problem even standing up to the bigger and older three and stealing yummies from them.

Hi...I have 2 6 week old bantams chics that i'm raising inside my home...when can they go outside? They still seem so small?

Thanks!

I put my chicks out at 5 weeks... they had all their feathers, the nighttime temps were above freezing, and they didn't have any supplemental heat in their coop. They did great! I say go for it, depending on your weather....

To give you an idea, it was probably lows in the high 30's/low 40's when I put them outside, and highs were around 50-70 in the daytime. They all thrived and LOVED being outside.

It's rained here for the past two days and my girls have been cooped up in their coop.

We are thinking about letting them out tomorrow but when it rained the whole yard was flooded not just the run, the whole yard had standing water. If it's muddy and wet can they go out or should we keep them put up??
