One of my 6 week old cuckoo marans

Finally got around to taking updated pic of the original crew out in their coop yesterday. With the helps of my little chicken wranglers, my girls love to help! Here is Lucy, the BO, and then Ethel, the BR being chased by my daughter. They will somewhat run away from my girls, but they come right up to me and want to be held. And they follow me around everywhere. And Rose, our stunning white EE. She is top chicken. And not the best shot, but lastly is Lacey, the SLW.
gorgeous chicks BTW, may I ask how old they are?? My 16 turned 4wks on yesterday and the babies just turned wk Monday.

Ok question from the newbie chick mom. I have 2-2wk olds and 6-1wk olds, well today I picked up a SLW, and a SS that are 1 day old. I put them in a second brooder (dog crate) side by side so they could see each other, well the SS snuck thru to the big girl side and was pecking at all the older ones, I've put her back multiple times and now I put hardware cloth between them and she won't stop yelling. She's running up and down the side trying to figure a way to get to them. I'm scared they will get crushed bc the others are so much bigger, should I let them over there or am I asking for trouble?

I wouldn't think those differences should cause issues but sounds like that one doesn't want these. What about short times together while monitoring then removing for longer times? Heck my hatchery told me to put almost 3wk difference chicks together, I tried one or two and knew my guts told me right & we've had them separated only. I do put one big one in with babies once a day for a little bit but that's all.
I hope it's not a mistake and all your babies get along soon.

Thanks. She was still trying to get thru the hc so we put plexi-glass there now... What a little pistol. I'll try supervised visits for a bit and let the babies gain a little weight before putting them together. The older ones could really care less, thank goodness. I guess I'm just scared bc these are the two I got to replace the one that died.

These are my Barred Plymouth Rocks (hopefully pullets), or they are suppose to be, but their markings look an awful lot like your Cuckoo Maran. Do you think these are BR? They are 2 weeks old in this picture.

Here are my cuckoo maran at 1 week old. Yours to me look different than mine did at that age. I havent had BR so i cant commenton wether or not thats what you have, should be easier to tell once they feather out more, as the BR coloration is more distinct than the cuckoo maran. Perhaps someone with BR can chime in.
