So after lurking on this site and ogling over my sister in laws chick's I made the leap and bought my own chick's. (They are my 2 year olds chickies if you ask her). My sister in law is keeping them in her broader till they are ready to transition and our coop has been ordered. I'm so excited!! We picked out 1 light brahma, 1 Barred Rock, 2 Americana and then got 2 from the mixed pullets brooder which I equate to a blind grabbag for adults. Lol!! One of the random chicks is a chocolate brown and the other is yellow. I can't wait to see what they become. If anyone can help identify them that would be awesome!!! They are about a week old now. The first picture was on Monday when I got them, the second is the random yellow chick. I forgot to take a pic of the chocolate brown one but it's second from the bottom. Thanks for having me!!!

Welcome & Congratulations!

I see you found the Raising Baby Chicks Forum. This is a link to the Breed & Gender Forum where you can post some pictures of your chicks when they are a little bit older for opinions: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also pop in and say hello on your local thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you ‘Find your State’s thread.

If you would like to share more pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

Hi and welcome to BYC - you have some great advice and links already so I'll just say hello!

All the best

Your chicks are much too young to ID. When they are about 6-8 weeks old you can post photos at "what breed or gender is this."
