Hello from NE Ohio. My husband and I are first time chicken owners. We bought 8 chicks 7 weeks ago from a local hatchery. Just trying to figure out if we really got all hens. I trust the hatchery, but I know it isn't 100% foolproof. How can you tell by feathers? Five have rounded tail feathers like hens should have. Three have disorderly tail feathers, like roosters may have. I am hoping I didn't get 3 roosters. The Hatchery has a money back guarantee up until the 22nd week but it would kill me to have to turn these three in, as they are the most docile of the 8 and allow me to handle them easily. Two of them, a Dominique and a Golden Buff sit on my arm and let me walk them around the house.

Hello! Nice to meet you! I am new to the group but I found a link about sexing baby chickens not sure how accurate it is but I will share

https://www.wikihow.com/Determine-the-Sex-of-a-Chicken

Anyone please feel free to let me know if this inaccurate and if this is ok to share?

Thanks in advance,
I hope this helps

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
The chicks are old enough to take an educated guess on gender by comb size and color. Start a thread in the What Breed or Gender is This? forum and post pictures of each bird, unobstructed and free standing.
Gender specific plumage doesn't come in until around 15 weeks.

You can share whatever you like but it isn't accurate for a 7 week old chick. Wing feather sexing can give a guess on day old chicks only. The proper way is to vent sex the chicks and that's an acquired skill.
