Hi Everybody, I have a chicken that has a prolapse vent. this is my first time with this problem. I have been reading all the posts but I have not found where the white poop has dried and stuck to her prolapse and it wont come off. I dont want to hurt her so what can I do? Any suggestions? Thank you for your help!

Can you post any pictures? Urates are the white material from kidney waste. They can become dry and solid. Is she pooping? If she is not too weak, you might try soaking just her bottom in warm soapy or Epsom salts water for 15-20 minutes. It cannget worse if you don’t try to clean her off now. Prolapses occur from straining to lay an egg or pooping, and giving a human calcium tablet with vitamin D orally can be helpful. Always keep the red prolapse tissue moist with honey, cream, or oil, so that it does not dry out and become necrotic. Separate her so she won’t be pecked and injured.

Thank you so much for responding. She is separated and she does poop but just a narrow strand not a regular poop. I can tell that what is sticking out is her poop hole because I was holding on to her when she went. Unfortunately she constantly pushes it out faster than I can clean it so it has dried up and now I see small thin skin layer turning hard and beige. I will send you a picuture in a sec.

I will be going to buy hemroid cream because she had a bad reaction to honey yesterday. so I need an alternative for swelling. I will try to give her a calcium tablet
