In the Brooder
Aren't they soo much fun, my husband thought I was nuts when I told him I wanted chickens. Now he's up for any new project for the chicken coop, lol...Hello all. I just got my first chickens for my birthday. I had been hinting around for a few years but the wife wouldn’t commit then low and behold there were no eggs at the store in mid March and I pointed out that if we had chickens we wouldn’t need eggs from the store. Shortly there after chickens were in the household. We started with four brown sexlinks. Three weeks later the wife wanted to dress up the run with a chicken statue (because she now loves them dearly) and we ended up with 14 more because... well I have been lurking on this site long enough to know that doesn’t need explaining. The 14 were we’re supposedly 4 amber links ( I think this is right) 4 bantams ( not very specific) and 4 cubalaya. Well the Cubalayas are big and have feathered feet and four toes. So Brahma or Cochin if my research is correct. The bantams are starting to look like Cubalayas. I do enjoy a crap shoot. They are hanging out in the house with me while I telework and finish my coop. Thank you all for insights you have already answered so many and I look forward to being a part of this site
