So here's the progress on my coop. It's 8'x8' overall and the coop is 4'x8'. It houses my 7 bundles of energy.

I still have to add the ladder into the coop and the white "barn" trim, but they spent the first night out there last night and I woke up to them chirping away, even had a couple up on the roost.

The top of the roof is angled to a rise of 7" on the front side. That is all open with 1/2" hardware cloth. You can see it better in the last picture. I'm hoping that should be enough. If not, I can always cut some windows in the back. You think that's enough?

Very nice! Do you build things often? I'm asking because I'm debating on if I should buy a coop or attempt to build one on my own. I've never built anything on my own before and unsure of how easy it would be to build one.

I plan on only having two chickens, so I don't even know how big of a coop I need.

Any advice?

I have some building experience, but I'm by no means a pro. I would think you could get away with a 4x4x4 coop with a 4x8 run. That should keep them happy.
