We are in Washington state and looking to get just two chickens. Not sure which kind yet first focusing on coop. I really like this coop https://www.backyardchickens.com/web/viewblog.php?id=9413 my question is what type of electricty or heat do you need in coops?
To tell you the truth I've never been crazy about this style of coop because there doesn't seem to be much usable floor space and not enough ventilation high over the birds. By the way the roosts should be 2x4 placed with the 4 inch side up so they can sit with their feet sort of flat. We beveled the edges of ours. Also there is no window for light. Maybe if you're in a warm climate it would suffice but I still don't think there is enough ventilation. If you check by byc page you can see the kind of coop I picked for our 5 hens. I have electricity hard wired in and a small rubber coated cfl bulb in the run and coop. I also have a heat lamp but you probably don't need one.
