(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
This will be my first flock of my own. I have a season of experience working with broilers, layers and a backyard family flock on a farm on Whidbey Island and have been waiting for this day for the past 4 years!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

Fingers-crossed my first 12 chicks all arrive healthy and chirping tomorrow and expecting 10 more in May.

(3) What breeds do you have?

Bigtime barnyard mix.... I might regret it later but I'm optimistic.
-Double laced Barnevelder
-Fauvacana
-Super Blue Egger
-Snowy White Easter Egger
-Blue Copper Maran
-Delaware
-mille fleur D'Uccle bantam
-and 6 assorted brown egged layers

Hoping to add Welsummers and Olive Eggers down the road as well.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

Fresh eggs and chicken watching

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Running, gardening, cooking, baking and science fiction.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

My husband and I moved in together, got married, are starting our flock, building our coop and beginning to build our house in west/central Montana all in the past 8 months. We're honeymooning in the most epic way.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

Google always leads to BYC.
