2 weeks ago the hens got sick... swollen eyes, runny noses..... it had to be more than the common cold. I was lucky to get two or three eggs a day adn didn't dare eat them. After antibiotics and VetRx they are all looking good. My two leghorns haven't begun to lay again but the rest are getting back into the groove. I have 14 laying hens and today got 8 eggs. (9 yesterday and 8 the day before that)
I was putting all of them to bed and all but two or three had flown up onto the roosts, I had turned around to go out and then I hear this Thud and then Thud again.
two hens flew to the floor and What were they busily gobbling up? Either my White Rock or one of my Rhode Island Reds has simply dropped an egg to the floor from the highest roost!
It had hit another roost on the way down and then went to the floor.
Has anyone else had this happen? Why not the next box like a good girl?
She dropped it out like a big poop!
Now I'm worried it will turn them into egg eaters!
