i need help i bought the incubator and egg turner a little giant still air . im going to try to hatch chicks does anybody have tips? temp ? advice? thanks much appreciated

I started out with the little Giant too, if you can, I would install an old computer fan, The LG's are infamous for temp spikes. Mine you be fine all day, then spike when the sun would start to set and warm up the side of the house. But all in all, with careful monitoring the LG will get the job done. Also go to walmart and pick up a digital thermometer/Hygrometer, as it will give you more accurate readings of the Temp and humidity, I think they are between $6-$7.

Good Luck!

good luck with that addiction! Incubators are like meth! Highly addictive...

You are not going to want to hear this but my advice would be to pack up the LG still air and turner, get your money back and get yourself a Genesis 1588 with auto turner, if you can.
You will save yourself alot of heartache and worry and probably have much better luck with your hatching. The cheapest I have seen the 1588 w/turner is at "Cutlersupply" on line.
They are very accurate and very easy to use with great hatch rates.Good Luck

Very True, I only used my LG for week before spending the money on the Genesis, and demoting my LG to Hatcher in emergency (Meaning I couldn't stop myself from buying more eggs.). I should have just bought the Genesis in the first place. But on a tight budget, you can make the LG work.

The LG works great if you know how to use it...i use an LG and i always have great hatches with them...but if you have an LG first thing you do is throw away the thermometer that came with it..its crap and you will probably kill your chicks with it...they read the wrong temp ALWAYS...set it in a room that has a temo that stays the same usually...alot of people dont like the LG but i really do like it and i have always had good luck with it...

I have a hovabator, but my parents have always used LG's and done fine with them. They don't measure humidity or anything (which I don't recommend). They have just used them for so long that they know what to do for great hatches. It's just what you get used too.

i also have a hova bator that i use as the hatcher because i dont want to use it as a main one...
