Hi this is my first hatch and I wanna do this right I was planning on making a diy incubator but got too impatient and went and got the circulated air incubator w egg turner for my first hatch. I've been collecting eggs since Monday today is day 6 so I hooked up my incubator today planning putting them in later tonight but my humidity is at 70% I have read on how to increase humidity but how do I decrease it w out just dumping the water out and how much water do u add when starting out? Also I have read different things about washing the eggs and wondering if they will be ok w out special sanitizer =-O

400

OK so I just found somewhere to pull red plugs out which I did the humidity is at 70% right now I guess not soo much water is required

Hi, I use the dry hatch method. I only use the casting tin of a tea light candle for my water in the bator. That usually gives me about 40% humidity which works well for me. Then I increase the humidity at day 19 for lock down. My temp is at 99.5

My temp has been staying steady at 99.5 and humidity is at 30% now!! After dumping all the wafer out then putting about a stringe of water. Where would I put the tea candle and how much water do u add on lockdown? Thank you for responding.

I had a small space in front of my egg turner to place the tea light tin. I just filled it up to the top. Surface area is what you want to keep in mind.At lock down I fill up all my trays in the bator to keep at 70% humidity.

OK thx. Right now w no water its keeping at 30% and temp was steady at 99.5 but jumped up to 100 when I turned the heat on for the night so my hubby decided to slightly turn it down and was possibly at about 90 all night :( hopefully that doesnt affect em too much. Its back to 99.5 and humidity is staying strong at 30%
