First time hatcher

So, I just marked the air cells and I candled them! 9 out of 14 are growing! One died in the shell (I could almost make out the blood ring yesterday, and he was a slow grower, anyways), and the other 4 didn't start to grow. Oh, and before I candled them I washed my hands and my hands were a little chilly when I candled them. Is that gonna hurt them?should I throw the egg with the blood ring out? Will it spread bacteria to the other eggs?

The egg with the blood ring can be thrown out if you're for sure that is what it is, I personally keep all of my eggs until day 14 just to be sure, unless they stink - then I remove them right away. I've cracked open eggs that were seemingly dead during candling only to find a live embryo. That's never a good feeling.

The chilly hands won't hurt the eggs, don't worry about it.

If I candle the blood ring egg and then candle another healthy egg, will the bacteria from the dead egg get into the clean egg?

Unless you've cracked it open and got goo on the candler, you should be fine. If you're feelin' worried about it, just give the candler a swipe with a cotton square soaked in alcohol.

Okay, thanks. And another question: this morning my humidity was 16%! Last night it was around 25%, but I didn't think anything of it because I had just opened the bator. Is this low humidity going to hurt the chicks? I added water and the humidity is up to 34% now.
