First time hatching chicks

My marans babies @Island Coppers @wrathsfarm I think you guys keep marans if I remember correctly?? I think I’ve got two black and two blue here maybe?

The one blue one hatched leg first and I had to splint her leg, her face is dirty from her vitamin mixture I was giving her. She is all better now and running and jumping.

What did you order? 2 on left are Black. 2 on right could be Blue or possible Splash. I'm not too familiar with Splash hatch down to know if there's a difference in hatch down color.

Yes they certainly look like two blacks and two blues to me, splash is a lot lighter at hatch, having less clear a white bib.

I just ordered marans, she has black, blue and splash all together in one pen so you can get any!

I currently only have two black copper marans so I was hoping for one of the others, so I am excited! Though I still would’ve been happy for another black as well!

That's awesome, congrats. I've been thinking about adding blues and splashes at some
point to my Black Coppers but hatches and trying to get my BBS Silver flock going is all consuming at the time.

Not all but most of my BCMs

Are you going to see if Poppy carries the splash allele under the recessive white? Maybe you’ll be lucky and get some blues out.

Yes, I sure am. That's one of my next goals, getting the breeder pens built and separate the boys. These hatches and now 5 broodys set me back and the weather isn't cooperating to boot.

Speaking of pressure, I have about 10 BCM cockerels that need to not be here anymore. The hens and pullets sold within 24 hours of ads being placed but these guys who have these wonderful genetics behind them are destine for less fortunate futures. The rooster the flock has now is not perfect but has the majority of traits worth keeping plus he's a gentleman.
