First time hatching chicks

I have to say. The 2.5 weeks leading up to lock down seemed like forever. Now, not so much. Waiting for first pip... that sucks.

I know!!! I had to leave the house, I couldn’t stand the wait lol! Each day during lockdown I went and did some work in a local coffee shop just to distract myself.

Unfortunately, I don't drive and nothing is short of a 20 mile walk. Can't do too much during the day because DH works from home for a call center. Purest of torture.

We have first pip. I been sraring at the spot not sure of what I was seeing. The lower egg towards the top of the egg. It looks like a small piece of shell.

We saw a tiny beak!!!!

First one to hatch. It's up wandering around the incubator.

How do I comfort this little one? It is chirping like a little banshee and cuddling up to another egg that is chirping.

We now have number 2 hatched and a new one externally pipped

That's great! Now try and relax and enjoy the hatch. Mother nature will likely do everything needed to bring these little chicks to life.
