hey guys so it’s my khaki Campbell’s first time laying and hatching eggs and our first time with ducklings that aren’t bought from someone.
She’s been super broody and sitting on them ect,
We came home today and she was fine (sitting eating ect and came out for a quick run and a swim) We went inside and within 15-30 minutes, there was unfortunately a dead duckling in our little shell pool.
We think it may have followed her or she may have been trying to do the right thing and take it to water or something?
Anyone got any ideas because we have no issue taking the ducklings and raising them inside (as we just raised some 2 week olds so have the lights ect still) or to “assist” mum with the raising.
At the moment there was just the one but she’s still sitting on the eggs so from the research there maybe more in the next 24-48hrs
We just don’t want to deal with anymore dead ducklings because the one I just saw was enough.
