I just got 14 Blue Swedish Duck eggs. I'm planning on hatching them in My Hovabator (with a fan) Is there anything I should know? Do they not need a fan? Do they need more humidity? What Temp? is it 99.5 degrees like chickens? Thank you!

If you don't get a response here in the chicken section, try posting in the other poultry section listed near the end of the index. THere are some very informed breeders who lurk there. GL

I am incubating my first ducks, too.Buy Dave Holderreads book, "Storeys Guide to Ducks" just republished, 2010 or 11 edition has detailed incubation and anything you ever need for Ducks. If it is still air he has a graduated temp. 100-103 depending on week. Also mentions higher humidity if you wash eggs, how misting effects the hatch, how often to turn etc. 3 X a day best . How many minutes to cool down, depending on week, etc. Humidity if washing eggs (with water 3 degrees warmer and antibacterial soap), then misting with 100 degree water dailyhelps with hatch rate. But if washed eggs you need humidity around 60%+, mentions about cooling a few degrees at hatch ect. gives great tips for hatching and incubating.
