First time hatching with question.

I know this question has been answered over and over, but all I need is a simple answer. I put in 6 eggs (really not expecting anything) on Saturday. Didn't know if they were fertile or not, but I was really just trying out my bator. Well I candled last night (just to learn) and one of my white eggs was showing veins and everything. I was so excited that you would have thought I discovered the cure for cancer. Anyway, after looking at the rest they look nothing like the first. (some are dark shells). My question, explain to me how I know to throw the others out. If clear, that seems pretty simple, however, the rest do have a dark circle in them. Any advice would be appreciated. I am not going to candle until 7 days and then I don't plan on touching them until lockdown, that is, if they make it that far.

Congrats on your first hatch! I am fairly new at this also, but I have hatched about 5 times now. I wouldn't throw any of them out for awhile. I candle mine at 7, 14, and 18 days(before lockdown). I found that dark eggs are really hard to tell sometimes, especially when I was new at it. If one has a crack in it, or smells throw it out instantly, but I wouldn't even throw out the white, clear ones until day 7. , And the dark ones I often wait until at least day 14 to throw out, and only if I am positive!

Wait a few days, then candle again. If you mean that the shells are dark colored(browns or green) those, in my experience, kind of need to stay in the incubator until there is no longer any hope of them hatching(if they don't hatch, I mean). I have 4 EEs and I'll tell you what, their eggs are like trying to look in a window that has it's curtains closed!
I am unsure what you mean by dark circle... do you mean that it looks like a dark ring on the outside of the yolk blur, or that there is a yolk shaped shadow in the egg?

I made the most primative incubator ever and really never expected to get this far. I started with a sheet of insulation and duct tape and went from there. Cost me a total of $6.50.

I would like to second what joyous said. I just went through my very first hatch and all of my eggs were either brown or green so it was very difficult to tell how the development was going. I could barely see any veining on the brown eggs and on the green eggs I couldn't see it at all. I didn't start taking any "clears" out until day 10 since it was really obvious which ones were not developing. If I had any questions about an egg and it wasn't cracked or smelly, I left it in. At lockdown day I pulled a few more but left one questionable one that was a green egg. After the hatch was over, the only egg that I had in there that never started developing was that green egg. The other egg that didn't hatch was fully developed but never internally pipped so it was good to leave it in the bator. Good luck with your first hatch. It is so exciting when they finally start hatching!
