Hey everyone, so my girlfriend and I got 10 chicks back in may and they are just now starting to lay. The first couple seemed to figure out the nest box right off a week ago but now I’m starting to find eggs on the coop floor. I also noticed this morning when I let them out there were two eggs that had laid over night in the roost. Is this normal for young pullets trying to figure out the process? I went with the 5 gallon bucket nest box idea with a fake egg in each box. These chickens are on the bigger side (rainbow breed) so I’m hoping the boxes aren’t too small. I’ve got a couple chickens in the act of using them last week but now it seems as though they’ve taken a step back and I find eggs on the floor. Thanks everyone.
