First time incubating (ducks) candling help?

Hi!
We have a trio of khaki campbells, one of which is a drake and they’ve been having lots of ‘fun’ with the females laying consistently. We decided to try our hand at DIY dry incubating 4 eggs, and while it took a few days to really get consistent temp, which ran a bit low for a few days at first, we’re now on day 12 (temp is 40C, humidity also 40%) and I don’t know what I’m looking at while candling! One egg has a yolk that moves to the top when rotating, so I think it’s a dud. Three others have a darker, more orange spot that’s ‘grown’ but I don’t see any veins or an eye Can anyone advise? We were also curious about the likelyhood of fertile eggs from our trio. We know ducks generally can evade fertilization until a suitable drake comes along, but if there is only one drake, are they more likely to accept his advances?

(i should also mention, the surface stains are from the wood chips we used to line the incubator under the eggs, so they didn’t roll around)

40C is unfortunately a bit high for duck eggs (or any eggs). It needs to be at 37.5C if you have a fan in your incubator, or 38C if it's a 'still air' (ie. no fan) incubator.

I read 39-40 is fine and my digital thermometer reads 38c , while the analog is 40... aside of the temp situation, would you have advice on what you see in the pictures? Is it anything? Or nothing?

By day 12 you'd definitely see a dark shadow in there if anything was developing.
