So, this is kind of a long story, but here goes. In 2012, I ordered some chicks from My Pet Chicken. This order included blue orpingtons. The following year, I moved to return to university and complete my degree. I took my chickens with me. A neighbor dog slaughtered all but my now single blue orpington. To prevent her from being alone, I got some additional chickens.
This year, 2019, she died. But, right before this, she laid two eggs. On a whim, I ordered a cheap $25 incubator off of amazon. One of her eggs hatched today (a day early). I have one more of her eggs, a marans (either splash or black copper), and an olive egger left in the incubator. The marans egg has started chirping. It had been chirping for about an hour before going quite for about an hour, and chirping again. Do I help it, or do I go to bed, and check on it in the morning?
