This is my first time incubating and I have set 16 of my own EE eggs into my Brinsea 20 Eco. I have candled (using a small, 115 lumen LED flashlight from wal-mart) the eggs a couple times but I am having a hard time determining what is going on inside of them. Day 7 was my first candle and I thought I saw veins and what appears to be the eye in all of the eggs (but it could have been my imagination and wishful thinking). Tonight I have noticed quite a bit of movement going on inside the eggs.

My question is, should they be moving around on day 9, or is this a sign that something is going wrong? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

There is a topic at the top of the page entitled

StickySticky: · *CHICKS are HERE!!!* Egg Candling Pics: Progression Though Incubation

It has some really awesome pics of what your eggs should look like when candling. It is a thread of pics of eggs being candled. They are good to compare your eggs to. Be careful candling I've heard you can candle to much.

I usually candle of days 13 and again night before lockdown. I do day 13 because if an egg is bad it usually will open in the incubator on day 14.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the response RedfogsFlock. I have read, and re-read that topic before I did any candling, the photos are great. I am going to try and keep my hands off the incubator...but it is hard to do!
