Hi everyone,

I'm about to start incubating my first clutch of eggs! They are Speckled Sussex eggs from Bargain. My big question is how to turn the eggs. I'm thinking of trying the egg-carton method but I don't think the usual method of turning (placing a block under the incubator) will work for me, because my incubator is a huge, heavy wine cooler that's had its guts removed and replaced with a heating element.

Do I just open the 'bator 2 - 3 times a day to turn the eggs by hand? If they are upright in a carton, do I flip them over, or do I just rotate the egg inside the carton?

Thanks for any advice, it's greatly appreciated!

Nekomi, Hi this is bargain, nancy.

Mark those eggs with an egg and then turn 3 times a day for the first 18 days....Try to be sure your hands are very very clean before you touch them....

I lay my eggs flat down, not the egg carton method, but that's up to you.

flat down seems to work best for me.

PM me if you have any more needs for help during the hatch....I stand by to be your chicken doula (midwife).....My husband calls me the chicken midwife!

Be blessed and be a blessing!
Nancy
