First time incubating silkie eggs

Hi Debbie just a little update for you as you gave me so much advice and help! we are on day 13. I have candle my eggs and I can see lots of movement. I just want to take the time to thank you for all your amazing advice, I could not have done it without you. You really are an expert in your silky eggs. When will I put them into lockdown? Debbie? I am really confused. Thank you so much love Reece.

You are so very welcome. I do minimum of 4 days, and if I can, 5 days lockdown as I've had eggs pipping on Day 18 couple of times. I stagger hatch, so if I have five days between the next batch, then that's the lockdown I do. Silkies are notorious for hatching on Day 19, although the vast majority of mine are Day 20/21.

Do not worry about lack of turning that last week if you choose to do an extended lockdown as the embryos are large and mobile at this stage so can't get stuck. The third week of turning is the least important one.

I'm excited for you! Can't wait to see these fuzzy butts!

If you have silkies eggs and standard eggs in the same incubator do you still lockdown at that time or do you wait?

They're fine to just all be locked down the same time.

As I just explained to Reece, turning that last week is the least important week, so don't worry about that at all. They're not going to get stuck.

Debbie im on to update i heard a little chirp but no external pips as of yet day 20, im so excited and anxious i will be on with pictures as soon as i get a hatch
