First Time Incubating! SO EXCITED!!

Thank you!! Positive vibes are always welcome.

So, I just called Miller Manufacturing(The ones who make the Little Giant), and she told me that basically "the digital reading that you get on the bator itself, will more than likely be inaccurate in the first place." And, to go by my drop in hygrometer. I am just baffled that they would knowingly sell something that was inaccurate like that. Why do they even put the gauge on there if they know it's not right? Good thing I put another meter in there!!

Anyway, the accurate reading is up to 68% and climbing now, so I feel better. Especially since I know which reading to go by. Hopefully, the next time I post, it will be with good news and lots of little pips.

Awesome. I've often wondered why they bother putting the gauges on there when they aren't accurate half the time, but then my marketing sense kicks in and I go, 'oh ya, so they can charge us more for doing it.' lol My bator is old enough it doesn't have them...lol But hardly anyone (with the styro incubators) has ever said theirs was accurate. Heck, I don't even trust one store bought thermometer....I use three...lol. Here's to lots of pips and even more peeps!!

I think I need to force myself out of this house today!! I've only been up an hour, and have already found myself staring at them 5 or 6 times. Exciting for sure!!

I will never forget my first hatching......peered into the incubator at dawn on day 21 and heard peeping!!!

My jaw, literally, dropped wide open then turned into a huge grin and I did an adrenaline fueled happy dance.

It's hard to peel yourself away from watching the miracle....have fun!! ...and do keep us updated (with pics when they hatch!!).

Is it normal not to see ANY pipping between 20-21 days? I thought for sure some would have atleast pipped by now.

I cant say from experience but others have said they could have grown a bit slower due to temperature issues earlier in the incubation.

Can be 'normal'...especially if you've had any temp drops...also one miscalculation often made is...when is day 21?
If you set the eggs on Monday at 9am, Day 1 is Tuesday at 9am....I've done this both times I've incubated and thought day 20 was day 21.

So just hang on....it's sooo hard to wait!

It is very hard waiting!! They just reached the complete 20 day mark about 30 min. ago, AND #17 is now rocking and wiggling a little!! I started making a chirping noise (sorta made me feel crazy...lol), and it started moving right away. So, I hope this is a good sign!

Still may take a another day or so to see any hatching.....
....first you might hear peeps, means they've pipped internally thru the air cell.
Then you'll see external pips in the shell..and maybe a little beak breathing thru the pip.
Then they'll start 'zipping' around the shell until they can pop out.
But they can take long breaks to rest during and/or between these stages...so don't despair.

Is #17 the double yolker?
