Ok so *sigh* today is the first time I have let my flock out of the safty of the run, so they can run around in the yard.... I opend up the door to the run andJust stood there. My 4 Cornish-x's just looking at me as if to say... "Really? We can go out there?" the other four of the flock havn't been outside for more then a few days so they had to stay. As my ladies came out I though about changeing my mind. They are so safe, and happy why risk that, but I let them go. I Closed the run back and went to go sit on a fallen tree about 50 foot away. they slowly pecked and trotted about.
i think they are yet to get more then 10 foot from the run but they are out. After about 2 hours of watching I came back in to the house. Now I am just sitting here biteing my lip wateing for dusk to put them back in...... Hope all is well.... Be strong be strong lol.

I have 5 8-week old new hampshires that I put out in my new coop sunday evening (im brand new to the chicken world). Today I tried to let them out and I had to coax them out with food. Then their "free ranging" consisted of circling the run and coop for about an hour before they finally started to explore lol

Did you ever get your flock more then a few feet from the run? lol Non of mine really will, well my two easter egger I find them in strang spots..... Like trees

Yes it will get easier! I was a basket case the first time I let mine out. There are 10 acres here but they never stray too far from the coop!
