congratulations diane!!! you did a really great job! just for fun do a search for Frugals thread on making chicken stock I have a feeling you are going to love him. also the answer to your chicken flopping is killing cones, there are several threads on here about how to make them from traffic cones.

Yay for you! You are very courageous to attempt this for the first time, and how lovely you manage to look while doing it! I'm sure you've learned a lot to make your next sessions go easier. Enjoy your well-earned meals from this effort.

When I lived in Hungary I had a very bizzare dinner where every member of the family (to whose home I was invited) was doing very bizzarre things. No one spoke English, but the little girl was petting my head, the little boy was running around the table with some unidentified chicken innard, the mom (my friend) was cooking with her back to me, grandma was chomping on carrots, just one after one after one after one, and Dad was fishing all the chicken feet out of his soup and sucking on the toes. I could not bring myself to eat toe meat. Sorry, something in the first few posts about chicken feet triggered the memory!

DianeS you are awesome! Congratulations!

I've yet to process any birds myself but your story is very inspiring. I'm not interested in the whole "chopping the head off" method, either. I've checked out a lot of posts on here and also videos on YouTube and think slitting the throat is the way to go.

WOW congrats Diane! Great job! Those birds are huge! Its funny how we have to go throught things like that and then your brain starts rattling on how to make it easier next time:)
