First Time Raising a Roo-How Many Chances Does He Get?

I guess I thought it was a good number of hens to roosters?

As a rule of thumb, 8 to 12 hens per rooster. You have one roo too many. Still - I have 30 laying hens, three pullets (12 weeks old) getting ready to lay and four chicks that a broody hatched out and I have ONE rooster - a polish tophat guy. He has his favorites that he mates, but he does a good job of watching for predators and warning the birds. One rooster is all I want and he is not human aggressive, so we get along fine. The first time he does anything (IF he does anything) he's gone. I don't pet him or touch him, and he moves out of my way when I approach him, so we're good!
