In the Brooder
We butchered our very first batch of Cornish X last weekend. I finally cooked one last night - spatchcocked, rubed with olive oil and seasoning, and oh my gawd! I think I now have a developing obsession with these birds. We're already planning our next batch of chicks to raise.
They do poop more than "regular" chickens, but it wasn't a discouraging amount. We only had 3 deaths, but they were the result of brooder tramplings. We raised them to 8 weeks and they turned out to be just the perfect size for my family of 5, plus one plate left over, so I may keep some to get a little bigger next time.
All in all, I was very surprised at how easy they were to care for and how delicious they turned out!
