Tonight I set 12 BO eggs under two of my three broody BO hens. They have already been broody for a while and I am hoping they will stay on them. They seemed quite delighted tonight to find eggs in their boxes when they got back in them after me kicking them out to eat and set the eggs. Two broodys share one next box and the other has one to its self. There are lots more boxes but two like to share. So long story short there are 12 eggs set, 6 in each box. Now they are up high, I know I will have to move them as the hatch gets closer, so the other hens won't bother them. Do you tend to separate them with the mother hen shortly before the hatch or after they hatch, or do you have sucess leaving them in with the flock. I have 9 BO hens in total and a dominique rooster. Any help or advice would be great. This is my first hatch. I just started with chicks that I had someone hatch out from an incubator for me last year to get me started with chickens.
Thanks,
Cindy

I have a seperate pen I put my hens in that hatch peeps. I usually wait till they are done hatching to move them. If you do move them be prepared. The momma hen might get mad at you and try to peck, I usually use gloves if they are fiesty. Good luck.

also if you have two hens sharing a nest chances are the eggs will get broken.
