Hi! I am relatively new to chickens, though grew up helping my grandmother gathering eggs and always had relatives with chickens.
Just over a week ago I got an incubator and two dozen fertilized eggs! So far looking like about 20/24 are developing on track.
The breed was advertised as Orphington cross Rhode Island Red. Mostly want to keep hens for our own eggs so will see what we get!
I also raise horses and work almost full time as a mental health therapist!
My husband and I have 4 kids: two girls ages 6&8 and twin 4yr old boys. They are excited to see if we will hatch any chicks as well!! Besides our 9 horses (soon 10 once our pony foals), we also have 3 indoor cats and an indoor/outside dog.
Looking forward to getting to know this community!
Bonus Q: How did you find BYC?
I found this community when I was researching my brooder setup in preparation for eggs hatching! Only took me about 20 minutes to decide to join
