I'm new to incubating eggs, been learning so much from this site, and YouTube videos.
Thankful to have others sharing their experiences.
I setup my new incubator, calibrated the temp and humidity settings, and added 6 eggs a few days ago.
But now I have a bit of a dilemma that I'm not sure what to do about.
I just found out that my electric company is planning a scheduled power outage for approximately 1 to 2 hours one day next week.
My eggs will be on day 6, not sure how to keep them warm during the power outage.
Will they survive without steady temperature for an hour or longer?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Throw a plush blanket over the incubator while it's still running, so when the power goes out it will be insulated. That should be enough for a couple of hours of no power.

You can try using a thick towel and have a couple bottles of warm water ready so you can wrap it up when the power goes out. Hand warmers might work too, but they need the kind of oxygen you'd find in a glove or pocket to work well. A large air mass might not do the trick. If it's just a couple hours they should be fine. Remember, mama hen gets up to eat, drink, and poop while she's hatching eggs.

Ditto Dat!

Wrap a blanket or towel around the base, don't cover any vent holes.
Crank up the heat in the room before the outage.

Appreciate all your replies and advise. I do have a styroform cover over the incubator, so that may be enough to keep it warm. I'll candle them a few days after and see how they are doing.
