I know I know, dont count ya chicks before they hatch. But so far my new incubator has been amazing. Everything has stayed perfectly etc, every time I've candles all eggs have been developing and these little boogers have been moving like crazy!!! So I'm about to lockdown as of tonight. What is the best bottom? Paper towels? Puppy pad? Or shelf liner? I have all on hand. Please let me know ASAP.

Also how true is it bantams hatch sooner than LF incubated eggs??? Hubby swears everything he has read said itll be day 19, vs day 21!!!

I like to use shelf liner personally :) The chicks can get a really good grip on it and it makes for easy cleanup.

The only bantams I've ever had hatch earlier than LF chickens are seramas. All the rest pretty much always hatch on day 21.

I use paper towels and they seem to do just fine. Haven't hatched bantams yet but hoping to soon.
