Ughhh. It doesn't rain here often so we had no way of knowing and our 4 chicks are in there ( 7 weeks). It's not wet all over but has it patches. Will they be okay until we can figure out how to fix it?

Mine does the same thing, so I bungy cord a blue tarp over it when it rains, and the chickens are fine, they usually run around in the rain anyway!

We have to tarp ours too! The first rain we had after the chicks were outside, the WHOLE coop flooded. Dern pre-made coop... So now we tarp!

We have a tarp over a window because its too small to fit over the whole coop. Guess I need to find a larger one or 2 or 3 of the same kind.

poor chickies. They seem fine with it though

If you don't have enough roof hanging over the edges, rain has more of a tendancy to blow in the vents, windows and door. Depending on your coop design, it might be easier to make something that works like an awning over the windows, than to do something about the roof design. It just depends on your coop.

The only other cause would be a leak in the roof, like at a seam or the edges, depending on how it's built.

We did tarp a chicken tractor for a really bad storm once. That worked, too.

I'd think that the chickens will be okay, as long as you can get the inside of the coop dried out ASAP. I'd remove any damp bedding and replace it with dry bedding. Also, if it were me, I'd only use a tarp as a stop-gap measure until I could shore up the roof/siding or wherever your leak(s) is/are.

Got any pics of your coop? I think you'd get more suggestions if we could see what the issues may be...
