Could be. I know the rooster is a Blue Wheaton. He's a good looking bird. Most of the hens I saw were Wheatons and Blue Wheatons. My daughter and I picked our 13 chicks out of maybe 40? So with our luck, yea we got all splash roosters! LOL

Starting on my coop today. Building a larger version of this:


This one is 3x3 coop with a small run. I forget the dimensions. Mine will be 4x6 coop for 4-6 hens. with a 4'x10' run. I know I'm a little undersized on the run, but we plan on letting them roam the yard for a few hours in the evenings. Part of why I chose Ameraucanas is they are supposed to do well in smaller spaces. If it turns out they don't, I'll try something different. I'll post pictures in the coop forum as I go.

I spoke to the breeder. I sent him a picture of the birds and asked about the different coloration's. He said this hatch was all Wheaton. No blues or splash. He said the darker birds were males, and the lighter ones are females. I can't believe I lucked out and plucked a 50/50 mix.
