first time with chicks in incubator

can someone help me beginner
i bought a giant incubator and placed eggs in there to hatch i can see a few have the veins and chick appearance they seem heavier then others
i have about 5 eggs that when i candle have a air pocket on top but a dark appearance full at bottom of egg is this rotten or are they almost ready to hatch have no weight to egg
i ask because i already killed 3 chicks from eggs two real young thought was rotten , wasnt
and one thought was no good had no weight but when i cracked open had baby chick i would say a few days from hatching took breath and died

I would guess they are close to hatch, you should do a search for candling egg pictures so you know what you have Goodluck!
