Thank heaps I'll do more research. Yes that tiny egg does look like a bird egg not a chicken egg but it was in the nest box of the coop. I'll learn to candle it
 
To keep track of the percentage of fertile eggs, you could keep a piece of paper in the kitchen and record how many eggs you use and of those how many are fertile. You may not want to let a hen sit on eggs until you have a high percentage of fertile eggs so that she isn't sitting for 21ish days on a pile of unfertilized eggs.
